Global Developmental Delay (GDD) is the general term used to describe a condition that occurs during the developmental period of a child between birth and 18 years. It is usually defined by the child being diagnosed with having a lower intellectual functioning than what is perceived as ‘normal’.

Symptoms:

Even when it’s not clear what’s causing the delay, early intervention often helps kids catch up. But in some cases, kids still have delays in skills when they reach school age.

Treatment:

It is not likely that your child will outgrow a developmental problem on his or her own. But, with help from Occupational, Speech and Physical Therapy your child could reach his or her full potential.
